>> it's all made by companies like mine. our product is a qualities product. it's the same as sold in china and india. it's a big difference, the question is how does a company like mine compete in a global environment where china, india and europe are on our shore. >> they're having government subsidies to chinese products so they can put guys like you out of business and that's what a lot of americans don't understand. it's frustrating to me, that's correct. but there's probably a lore important point about the product and that is that our government is making it difficult for us compete. and the tax policy, president obama is telling small business people like myself, he's going to help out by raising taxes. . the only way is to invest in

(applause). earlier this week, treasury secretary timothy geithner says the obama administration is more than willing to let america go right over the fiscal cliff. and he will not budge on the president's demands to raise taxes on the top income earners. >> if republicans do not agree to that is the administration prepared to go over the fiscal cliff. >> oh, absolutely, an agreement doesn't involve those rates going up on the

top 2%, only 2%, and all of those americans get a tax cut on the first $250,000 of their income. >> well, what if the obama administration lets it happen? what happens to the average american family. joining us here, is congressman randy forbes, nice to have you on the show. >> thank you, governor. >> let me ask you something, do you feel that the president actually wants it to happen so it gives him some political advantage? >> well, governor, i just have to judge that by two things, first of all, what i'm hearing from my colleagues on the democratic leadership side and told me as late as last week, they wanted to go over the fiscal cliff because we've argued all along they'll start by simply taxing everybody above 200,000, but that will continue and this'll lower at that rate and limit and they told me they'd vote for everything that tax everybody

above $150,000 and secondly you look at the president as actions. the president doesn't want an agreement or compromise, he wants to get his way and that's why he won't come to the table with any serious proposal and talk, because we could get a solution that everybody could live with. >> it seems that there's a messaging problem. i don't understand why there's not a conversation if the taxes go up, the democrats would extend a republican proposal could keep it low. low taxes are in place and that's a republican package. if that doesn't happen, the democrats package with higher taxes is going up. i'm he not hearing the clarity. >> the orchestrated media give you two myths and act like the president has been negotiating, he hasn't come to the table with anything. all he does is press conferences. they want the illusion if the

tax rates go up on everybody above 200,000 somehow that solves the problems. that's a minor point. what i stugd uggested to the speaker and the minority leader, take a conference call in the capitol and every morning, speaker, majority leader, the whip and our leadership team sit down at the table and say we don't want to do anything behind closed doors, we want all the cameras and we want to talk about the ideas and principles, where is the senate and where is the president? i do that every single day, so the american people, one, can hear what they're putting on the table and realize that the senate and president are missing in action. >> you did a piece for the daily caller, and saying that they're holding our national security hostage. what did you mean by that? >> as you know, we have cut by

800 billion dollars over the last couple of years and we've got a half trillion dollars of cuts that are going to come into place in january and that's going to be devastating to our military and that's based on their own secretary of defense and his comments. i had the army chief of staff in my office a week or so ago telling me that they're looking at cutting 80,000 people out of the active duty army beginning now and that's before the massive cuts come through, i think the president's had this plan to cut our military, to dismantle it. i think what we're going to see is harmful effects on the american people when we try to defend this country in the next decade. >> in in a word do we avert the train wreck or get a front row seat and watch it happen? >> well, governor, one. things we hear from our constituents, they say wii want you to get an agreement and work this out, but always give this caveat. we don't want you to throw our principles the under the train and that's what i think you'll

see the republicans do. we've passed proposal that will stop the huge tax cuts and tax rates from going up. we' we've passed something and i think they will hlet it go over the cliff. we're not going to throw the fundamentals that made this country great out the window. >> i certainly hope so, congressman, always a pleasure to chat with you. that's what you do. that's what you do. and our people in an overwhelmingly they supported rehe election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that. not just that, but why not? >> yeah, why not? i mean, let's just ahead and quid pro quo, why is that a problem? it's illegal to make a promise if you vote for a candidate that candidate will in turn give you something, doesn't matter an amount of money, aappointment to a job, all the time i was a governor or lt. governor i understood if i told somebody, vote for me and i'll get you on a board.

and i can't imagine somebody on a television would say, we voted for you, quid pro quo. and that's what's wrong. why don't we vote for somebody not because of bacon, but because of good government. as a result we could have good bacon or good government. syria's leader assad has been losing the gripping in his country, raising the concerns that he might use chemical weapons on his own people. and on monday, the president issued a warning to assad. >> today i want to make it absolutely clear to assad and those under his command, the world is watching. the use of chemical weapons is and would be totally unacceptable. and if you make the tragic mistake of using these weapons, there will be consequences and you will be held accountable. >> well, i can't wait to see what that's going to be.

given this administration's propensity believing that the u.s. can get it fixed. i'm sure if he does use chemical te him a letter, if that doesn't work, a strongly worded record and if that doesn't work, a really strongly worded letter and all the letters in bold time. the tragedy, that he understood and they'd listen to not like they'd lizzen to other presidents. and syria is having 40 or 50,000 people killed by its own government. problems in tunisia and still in afghanistan and that corrupt government and i guess i'm still waiting to find out what it is that we do that scarce iran and the nuclear program. in the meantime, are we putting muscle on the crazy

men? no, you know what we've been doing in the last couple of years, demanding that-- maybe i'm missing something, i believe we ought to put a lot more pressure on them releasing sarhanen gas rather than israelis building those in the back yards for their families, just my thoughts. now, nbc sport's bob costas created a controversy while talking about the kansas city chief player jovan belcher killing his girlfriend before taking his life. he says if belcher didn't have a gun he and cassandra would be alive and here he is trying to explain his comments on the o'reilly factor. >> i didn't call for any specific prohibition on guns

and i voted from a column by jason whitlock and now on the fox supports website, in which he mentioned a gun culture in this country and it plays itself out in many ways, but it's about and toward guns that almost always leads to tragedy. >> not always leads to tragedy, in fact, mr. costas, i think you're a great sports caster, i really do, i thought you did a terrific job for the olympics, for the same reason i don't try to do commentary on sports you might want to do some brushing up on the facts before you comment on what you call the gun culture. here is the fact. over 4,000 times a day, in this country. 4,000 times a day, guns are use today prevent a crime by private citizens. in fact, there is 50 times more of a likelihood that a private citizen with a firearm will stop a crime than will be the victim of a crime. apparently, you also think

that if maybe belcher hadn't had a gun that cassandra would have been alive, a big 6 foot 8 football player, he could have kill her with a loaf of bread, much less a gun. i don't think it would have made any difference. we didn't talk to the violence of football that led to his head injury, that led to the use of drugs, that led to the use of alcohol and to the violent behavior. if we're really going to stop crime, let's stop it at all levels not somebody who might legitimately want the firearm to protect themselves. if cassandra had a gun she might be alive, not belcher having a gun. well, she beat the world's best to become the world's best winning olympic gold. she was close to not making it at all. and not because she lost, but because she almost quit. gold medallist, gabby douglas,

[applause] >> these are the real deal. it's not easy to end up on that platform, i can why it would be frustrating. you told in the book one of the ways to keep strong, your faith. >> my faith plays a big role in my life and i don't know where i would be without it. and god has kept me safe and woke me up every single morning and i remember watching the olympics and, my lips are moving and that is me prayer and i pray before every competition and right as the judge's hand goes up, i pray and it's just part of me and i mean, i love it. >> 'cause you didn't pray just to win the olympics, you prayed because that's who you are. >> that's who i am, yeah. >> how does faith keep you grounded. there's a lot of pressure now, i can only imagine what it was like during the olympics, i

don't understand it. now the pressure, people are knowing you, watching you, asking you all of these questions like me, how does your faith keep you grounded and letting it all get to you. >> faith has definitely kept me grounded and i'm so humble and my mom keeps me grounded and my siblings do, i'm a big giver. i love to give, i want to have that blessing on other people and so many around me from given back to me and i want to give back. >> i want to hear about the favorite moment you've had since the olympic games, what was that? >> the most favorite moment is when i jumped into a child's arm and thank you for everything and next day he told me he cried. for me to hear that, is amazing. >> i think that everybody in america cried watching you, in

a good way, okay? >> thanks. >> because you were so remarkable, but you went out there with such confidence and poison and we all knew hwrung you why and what we would be doing. so the question i get to ask you, how do you do it? >> how do i -- it takes a lot of training and god has given me a god given talent and the glory goes all up to me. it just takes a lot. it takes determination and dedication, it takes the heart and it takes the-- i want it, you have to want it in order to get and work hard no matter what, you want it. >> and a lot of people want to be on the platform and not everyone wants to do it like did you. and that's the discipline of day after day, after day.

the troing, is there anything that kept you going and i mean, i can imagine you were tired and just sick of the repetition of it. so, was there a way, yeah, i still want to do this not knowing it would turn out with two gold medals >> at least i tried to, going to iowa and giving to a whole different place, a new atmosphere, i could say at least i tried it my all and my motivation going into the olympic. i never wanted to have regrets saying i wish i would have done that, so, that was my moti-vision and me and my family do a lot of shovelling so my mother wants me to accomplish nigh dream and to go to the olympics and have fun. >> obviously you not only had fun, you gave us something all of us. is there something after the
